There are some big name rookie cards in this set. There are also plenty of hall of famers. This set was not overproduced like many sets in the 1980's.

The rookies are big names and hall of famers. Included are Ryne Sandberg, Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs (the three biggest names), Willie McGee and Frank Viola. The cards have held their value well and in top condition (psa 10 or bgs 9.5 or 10) can bring quite a bit of money. It is also loaded with hall of famers including a $6 Nolan Ryan card (price according to a Beckett Plus magazine from April/May 2006), Ozzie Smith, Pete Rose (not in the hall of fame but a $4 card per the price guide), George Brett and many more.

A complete set of near mint to mint cards books at $80 in this Beckett Plus. It can be purchased on ebay for probably $40-$60 depending on condition and the timing of your purchase. Enjoy and I recommend this set to collectors. 1983 Topps baseball is a great vintage year. Not only can you get the big rookie cards of Gwynn, Boggs, and Sandberg, (as well as Willie McGee) but you can also get many star and hall of fame cards such as Nolan Ryan and a second year card of Cal Ripken Jr.

1980 Topps cards, sets and boxes on Ebay right now, unopened wax boxes are not that expensive relative to earlier vintage sets, and offer great value.
