My Baseball Card Space Cards

This baseball card set article is brought to you by Baseball Set, a baseball card community with the resources to find your favorite specific baseball card sets and products from all major manufacturers including Topps, Donruss, Fleer, and Upper Deck.  This website will highlight various sets including 1980 Topps, 1981 Topps, 1984 Topps, 1986 Fleer, 1988 Topps, 1989 Upper Deck, 1987 Donruss, and many others.  1993 Bowman also is a great baseball card set.  1979 Topps baseball is featured here too.  1990 Score Baseball cards are a great set for possible undervalued rookie cards.  1992 Bowman baseball cards are a great baseball card set. 1989 Donruss baseball cards contain rated rookie cards of Ken Griffey Jr. and Randy Johnson.

The 1980 Topps Baseball card set is basically a true vintage set.  The hall of famers that are not rookie cards in the set are quite valuable according to the price guides.  That list is headed by Nolan Ryan.  The best rookie card in the set and basically the only major rookie card is the Rickey Henderson rookie card.  It is a great card to own and is still quite popular and should be for many years to come.
Talk-Baseball is the newest addition to this baseball card network and it is a free baseball forum with over 1,700 members.

The Rickey Henderson rookie card books at $50-$60 in price guides from what I remember and still does unless it has changed in value.  The Nolan Ryan card books at slightly over $10 or so and the other star cards book a little less.  Common players are about 10 cents each.  Complete sets cost over $100 each and wax boxes are significantly more than that due to the fact that a PSA 10 graded card from this set can be worth a lot of money even if it is a common.  That is an added bonus with vintage cards.

Enjoy this set if you have one and if you don't, this and any other vintage set is worth keeping for the future as the production was not overdone and it will be sought after by collectors for many years in my opinion.
Rickey Henderson rookie cards have gained more popularity as he is now officially a hall of famer, these can be found in 1980 Topps baseball cards.
I have here a 1980 Topps Dennis Eckersley card, #320 in the set.  This is an awesome baseball card from vintage years of a great pitcher.

The 1981 Topps baseball card set is a great idea.  This set is right on the threshold of being considered a bonafide vintage baseball card set.  I personally recommend that collectors own a set of the regular series and also the traded set.  It is the first year that Topps issued a traded set of 132 cards.  There are rookie cards of Harold Baines, Tim Raines and Fernando Valenzuela (there is an additional rookie card of him in the Traded set as well).  These cards can run about $60-$100 for an unopened wax box and a little bit less than that for a complete master set and a bit less for just a 792 card set.
The 1983 Topps baseball card set has three major rookie cards.  This set has rookies of Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs, and Ryne Sandberg.  Also, there is a Willie McGee rookie card and a Frank Viola rookie.  There is also a key second year card of Cal Ripken Jr. in the set, as his rookie was in 1982.

This set has great investment potential for the long term as it is not often that you will find 3 great rookie cards in one set, 3 rookies that will be in the hall of fame if they are not already.  (I have not been keeping up with the hall of fame voting in baseball but I am sure that Boggs and Gwynn are in already)

Unopened packs and boxes are not that expensive in comparison to newer cards and there was a rarer Michigan Test version as well.  Also, O-Pee-Chee, the Canadian equivalent of Topps also has cards from 1983, though the player selection does not include all of the rookies.  Of the big three, only Tony Gwynn I am certain has a card in the set because I bought a box of them before and only got a Tony Gwynn rookie card and a Cal Ripken Jr. second year card.

All in all, this is a great selection of cards to add to your collection.  There are so many great baseball cards.
1984 Topps baseball has rookie cards of Don Mattingly and Darryl Strawberry, and this is a popular set for New York fans.

1989 Topps Baseball cards are a decent set, the unforunate thing is that there is not a Ken Griffey Jr. card in the set.  That card is in the traded set though, and it is worth $8-$10 depending on the price guide you look it up in.  There are Randy Johnson, Craig Biggio, John Smoltz and Gary Sheffield rookie cards in the set along with hall of famers.

Plenty of these cards were produced which means that the value of them right now is limited.

The value of these cards is about $10 for an unopened box and about the same for a complete set, with a factory set possibly fetching $15.  If you shop for it online, you usually can get a good deal on it.  This is the type of set that you can also do well on by going to your local card store and asking for a good deal.  A lot of times with sets like these, they are happy to sell them at a discount if they have many of them or if they have not sold well for them.

In conclusion, this set may increase in value in the long term but I certainly would not recommend going out especially to purchase the cards.  If you already have a set, I would keep it for a long time as in my opinion, it is bound to go up in value the older it gets.
1993 Topps Finest baseball cards are rare and highly sought after.  1994 Bowman's Best baseball cards are discussed in this article as well.
